GCSE Results Day - PRESS RELEASE
Re: Thomas Adams School – Best Ever GCSE Results 2011
Following last week’s outstanding A-level results, Thomas Adams School, Wem was again celebrating today. This time it was the occasion of its best-ever GCSE results.
A delighted Headteacher, Neil Hemming, congratulated both students and staff.
‘We are absolutely delighted with these results. They represent some of our best ever student performances with 83% of the students gaining 5 or more A*-C grades and 65% of the cohort achieving these higher grades with English and Maths. Indeed, over a quarter of all grades awarded were either A* or A grades and 80% of grades were awarded in the A*-C grade range. In fact, these results mean that, on average, each student attained the equivalent of 3 A*, 3 A and 2 B grades at GCSE: a brilliant achievement. Moreover, there were many outstanding individual performances and a large number of students achieved A*/A grades across a broad range of subject areas.
‘Certainly, I would like to put on record my thanks to students, staff and parents for what was an exemplary team effort.
‘These Thomas Adams students are now joining others from across North Shropshire, and indeed from further afield, in moving on to take A levels at Adams College, and I am sure will enjoy further success in two years’ time.’
