Key Stage 3: National Curriculum Tests

At the end of Year 9 students sit national public examinations (SATs) in the core subject areas of English, Mathematics and Science. You can see from the tables below that our Key Stage 3 National Curriculum results are consistently above national average.

Clearly, an outstanding set of results at Key Stage 3 once again with significant increases on previous results. More importantly, Local Authority and Government targets established for Thomas Adams were exceeded across the board.

 


 

Key Stage 4: GCSE Results

The table below demonstrates that we consistently outperform the national average for the number of students in the Year 11 cohort who achieve five or more GCSEs within the A*-C grade range – the ‘gold standard’ for schools at 16+.

  • 76% of students gained at least 5 A* - C grades
  • Of over 1900 subject entries at GCSE this year, 73% of them were in the A* - C grade range
  • Local Authority and Government targets were exceeded – placing Thomas Adams School in the top 25% of all schools nationally
  • Many students gained the equivalent of 10 A* or A grades at GCSE, with three students being placed in the top 5 in the UK (2 for English Lit. and 1 for French)
  • These results clearly place Thomas Adams in the top tier of schools on both a local and national scale

Indeed, if we look at the GCSE pass rate for Thomas Adams, we can see just how well our students have been performing.

 

2007 was a fantastic year for Year 11 students at Thomas Adams School where targets were exceeded by some margin.

NB: Figures in brackets are grade equivalents

  • Of all A-Level entries at Adams College, 47% were awarded either A or B grades, and 70% of all grades were in the A-C range
  • 20 subject areas achieved a 100% pass rate – for a state comprehensive we feel that this is an outstanding achievement
  • The average total point score per candidate was the equivalent of B, B, B at A-Level
  • The average point score per entry was the equivalent of a C grade
  • In our opinion, the results for Adams College represent a remarkable achievement by our students

GNVQ Results

GNVQ results at Thomas Adams were once again very pleasing this year with a pass rate of over 90%. An excellent achievement that maintains the excellent record of GNVQ success at Adams College.
