Adams House > About Us
The Family
Adams House is a co-educational boarding house for students between the ages of 11 - 19. We now have a capacity of 62 boarders. A pupil living at Adams House is treated as a member of the family. We regard this as an essential part of our approach and we know it is a successful one. Pupils from all over the world have lived at Adams House and have been happy, safe, secure and very successful.
We have high expectations of our pupils and students. We encourage high academic standards. Many of the school's facilities are available to Adams House in the evenings and at weekends.

Special tuition in English is provided for foreign students staying at Adams House.
A wide range of out-of-school activities are arranged to challenge the mind and body or to be just simply fun. Various clubs are available and well-attended within the House. There is always something going on, including theatre visits, city visits, concerts, paint-balling, ice skating, horse riding, bowling, hill walking, swimming and theme parks. Boarders often participate in charity events such as raft races, fun runs and sponsored walks. Activities are also organised within the house and these include themed meal evenings, BBQ's and parties.
What is Unique About Adams House?
Adams House is that it is not an ordinary boarding house - it is an educational establishment in its own right. It aims to provide complete education with Adams School and College. This means that students are provided with professional and caring help outside school hours from the tutors who come to Adams House during the week. These are in addition to the house staff. The tutors, who are all teachers at Adams School, assist boarders with their studies and provide any additional help they may need. A wide range of subjects and projects are covered in this way.
Another unique aspect is the variety of boarders and their cultural, religious and national background. They come from different countries: USA, Uganda, Kuwait, Peru, UAE, Syria, Hong Kong, Germany, Greece, Spain & Nigeria. The boarders therefore live in a multicultural society and, in a natural way, learn to respect and value each other.
Accommodation
Adams House provides excellent accommodation for all boarders. Lower school girls sleep adjacent to the Senior
Houseparent's family. Lower school boys live in a two floor dormitory with a member of staff living on each floor. Older pupils live in supervised cottage accomodation, many with en suite bathrooms. Boarders are able to enjoy the cottage gardens which open onto the school campus. Kitchen and laundry facilities are available to all boarders.
The combination of a friendly, supportive and homely atmosphere where all are encouraged to achieve their full potential, with attractive and spacious accommodation and high academic standards within school, makes Adams House unique. Pupils who live with us leave with enhanced social awareness and are well-prepared for life in the wider world.
